the code of conduct; generalities.
i. hospitality to all members is required. whether the member you are conversing, role-playing, etc with is a member if the staff team or not, you are required to provide them with respect and hospitality.
ii. backseat moderating will not be permitted. backseat moderating is where a member who is not a member of the staff moderates the forum; corrects members. you should always report the post/member to a staff member and not take it into your own hands.
iii. keep things PG. thirteen everywhere on the forums. "PG-Thirteen" means that swearing is kept to a minimum as well as sexual details. members may choose to swear infrequently, if they'd like. but we ask that it never be directed toward a member out of character. however, inside of the role-play, everything is fiction and one character may bad-mouth another. just remember not to be swearing every line of text you type. also, as-per the proboard's rules, you must be 13 years or older to join this forum.
iv. try to offer help to members/guests where you can. you could always try to offer members/guest help if you know the answers to their questions. of course, you don't have to but it would be quite nice of you. if you can't answer their questions, you should refer them to a staff member.
v. give credit to the things you use. for example, if you use an avatar for your character that is licensed under the "Creative Commons" license and the author of the work requires proper credit, you should give it. most likely, said avatar would be credited in the member's signature. this goes for all members and all things you post around the forum that are not yours.
vi. have proper role-play etiquette. this means you should respect the members you role-play with, follow the rules, and do not start OOC fights with other members.
vii. sign up with your desired character name in all caps & with your character full name. say your character's name is Sally Bob-Joe. you'd change your display name to: "SALLY BOB-JOE." also, if your character does not have an actual name or does not go by it, we ask of you to change your name to the name your character goes-by.
viii. we are a one-character per-account forum. this means you must register a new account for each character you'd like to play. you may have as many characters as you would like but you must keep them all active. also, you should have an out-of-character account.
ix. refrain from double-posting. double/triple/etc posting clutters the forum and looks rather unprofessional. we'd all appreciate it if you could remember to not double post.
x. all posts in topics that are OOC must be at least 3 words. any shorter may be considered spam.
xi. first register with an account using your desired alias.

ii. when your character leaves a topic emphasize that action with something OOC saying your character left. whether it is a small, bracket contained message saying "out," or a long and drawn out message saying a character has left, this is required.
iii. take heed in not killing or battling another character without the player's consent. battling should be reviewed by a moderator or administrator to make sure the players follow the rules and are fair.
iv. we do not have a set word-count but do ask that our members try to make at least in a range of 100 words of the other player's post.
v. refrain from chat speak in-character. chat-speak includes using shortened phrases like "brb," "lol," "ttyl."
vi. ooc character wring should be either placed inside of brackets or parentheses. unless there is a "notes" section on the template being used, this rule applies.
vii. we do not appreciate purple prose writing. purple prose is a form of writing so extravagant and beautiful it stuns even the writer. This writing has been deemed, by the staff, to be masking a player's real skill with words. often, role-players who write in this form use words in the wrong context, thus we will not allow it here. also, for some, it can be downright annoying.
viii. do not "fluff" your posts. this means use excessive thoughts to make your post looks longer/reach the required word-count.
vx. proper grammar is required. no, we're not all perfect with grammar. however, we do require some-what of literacy. semi-literacy is required here. if you're semi-literate, you probably only have a grade-school knowledge of grammar. we only want your posts to be readable.
x. do not god-mod or power-play. "god-modding" is where a character is invincible, can kill with one hit, and is, hence the name, pretty much a god. power-playing, on the other hand, is the act of controlling another player's character as well as your own (also called 'ghosting.')
